  currents
Posted by: MWD3dwater - 06-17-2009, 10:52 PM - Forum: DreamScape - Replies (1)

Is there a way to recreate the effects of currents on the surface of the water?
What I'm trying to do is have some areas where the water is moving in a different direction . Some times these areas are smoother and some times these areas are a little more choppy. this would be best described as a rip tide.

here are a couple examples : http://oceanworld.tamu.edu/resources/oc ... urrent.jpg

  Object Scr has no Parameters
Posted by: ECBCCMA - 06-15-2009, 08:25 PM - Forum: FumeFX & NodeWorks [max] - Replies (2)

My team just got a few licenses of FumeFx. I loaded up one of the tutorial videos (the campfire) and started following along. In the video he creates an Object Source helper. Associated with that helper are parameters, in which he chooses an object. I don't know why but all of the helpers in my "FumeFx" dropdown don't have ANY parameters. If you click the modifier tab, the area where the parameters should be is just blank.

The FumeFx object has parameters and I also can pull up the FumeFx gui as well, but thats about it.

Is my FumeFX installed incorrectly or am I missing something very obvious?

please help.

Thanks!

  Not showing in viewport
Posted by: djanim8 - 06-09-2009, 03:13 PM - Forum: AfterBurn - Replies (2)

I have 4 super sprays that are creating dust from moving vechicals, and when the "show in viewport" is selected, they show up... but then I'm trying to make a big old poofy cloud with a particle cloud, and when I create a new AfterBurn atmosphere affect, it won't show the spheres when "show in viewport" is selected.

any idea why?

  Render artifacts in 32 bit max 9, 2010.
Posted by: deflaminis2 - 06-02-2009, 07:22 AM - Forum: AfterBurn - Replies (2)

Hello, I'm having a lot of issues with Afterburn 4.0.

One of them is my renders using f9 don't seem to update themselves. It won't even seem to think about the render, just shoot back the same frame as before. (Both versions of max)

Also, it sometimes leaves the old render when it does update a new render, creating a mess.

Finally, I'm getting weird black lines through my renders. Here is an image.

http://img207.imageshack.us/my.php?image=problemsz.jpg

In this image you can see an older render and a newer one, with a zoomed in camera. But it leaves the old one. Very odd.

It may be connected to the scene file, but that's a shame because I'm updating a shot for a client and it was working ok with the old version.

Thank you for your help.

EDIT: now I'm having an issue where nothing renders at all with the scanline renderer... but vray works. It's just ultra bright and density seems to have no effect.

  Still getting Error 126, please Help!
Posted by: jbohbot - 06-01-2009, 03:15 PM - Forum: FumeFX & NodeWorks [max] - Replies (4)

Hi,

Here is the install (and install order):
- Windowx XP SP2 (64 bit - clean install)
- 3DSMAX 2009 (64 bit)
- Afterburn 4.0b R2009
- Dreamscape 2.5e R2009
- TP 3.0 SP2 (64 Bit)
- Fume FX SL 1.2 (64 bit)

All order versions removed before installing the new versions.
* * * * * * *
Whenever I launch MAX 2009 (64 bit or 32 bit), I get the error message:
d:\program files\Autodesk\3DS MAX 2009\Plugins\Afterworks\Optional\FumeFX_TP.dlo failed to initialize. Error code 126 - the specified module could not be found.

* * * * * * *
I have read, modifying the pluing.ini file would help. Which one? I have modified so many different ones, my head is spinning.
I have read, that moving the DLO files would help, but alas, not. Still have the same message.
I have verified "security settings" and they are not the problem.
* * * * * * *

Now, I need to be able to render on a networked machine, and this is making it very difficult, as the error messages and missing plugins are not allowing the system to render properly. I have read in these forums as well as many others, that lots of poeple have this problem and there does not seem to be 1 fix everyone seems to agree upon.

We have been struggling with this for a very long time. Please help! Thank you.

Has anyone been able to get the effect like the link below of smoke trails like pieces flying off a burning fuse. I have been tring to use particle flow with not much luck.
