  freezing stretch
Posted by: aldred2 - 07-24-2007, 05:46 PM - Forum: AfterBurn - Replies (7)

Is there any way I can freeze the stretching caused by Part.Velocity AutoStretch? I have Pflow particles travelling along a curved spline. I stop them in a certain position, so the stretching disappears when the velocity hits zero. Or any other way I could do it?

Thanks
Mark

  Fusionworks and Atmosblender
Posted by: Steve Green - 07-22-2007, 11:04 AM - Forum: FumeFX [max] - Replies (3)

Hi,

can anyone tell me what the future plans are for Fusionworks and Atmosblender?

Is Atmosblender a dead end now, and is the plan to expand Fusionworks use within products other than those from Sitni Satni?

I'm mainly thinking of HairFX for example - Although that's been dead quiet since Hairtrix was announced nearly 2 years ago.

I tried using Fusionworks with AB Fog and HairFX and it crashed Max on rendering when create image channels was on in AB Fog.

Thanks,

Steve

  Simulating pressure?
Posted by: emil_vfx - 07-19-2007, 04:08 PM - Forum: FumeFX [max] - Replies (3)

Hello!

Is it possible to simulate pressure with FumeFX? Let's say I have an emitter, that pumps smoke into a closed box, then a throttle is being opened, and the pressurized smoke flies out through it?

  How to keep the sharp?
Posted by: shoujiaan - 07-17-2007, 01:56 PM - Forum: AfterBurn - Replies (1)

That issue bother me for a long time. I'd like to create a fragment leading a long smoke tail down to the earth, but I found I can't keep the sharp of smoke. If I use particle age scale size, in the end of the animation I will got the straight thick smoke. If I use the object distant to scale size, at the beginning of the animation the smoke have a big head. How I keep the sharp? I have tried use long partile age to trick, it works but the side effect is that I lose the contrl of the density. Does anyone can help me? Big Grin

  Colouring different "events"
Posted by: emil_vfx - 07-17-2007, 01:22 PM - Forum: FumeFX [max] - Replies (1)

Is it possible to adjust different colours for different kinds of events, something like in Particle Flow? Let's say I have some green smoke, which colides with some geometry and after that it gets red?

Thanks in advance!

  VRay GI Multiplier problem.
Posted by: mitchgates - 07-16-2007, 10:49 PM - Forum: FumeFX [max] - Replies (2)

It appears that the VRAY GI Multipler for fire also affects the rgb opacity of the flames themselves (even with GI turned OFF in the renderer). Since it defaults to 5.0, it results in extremely blown out fire renders unless you change it to 1.0. At 0.0 the fire is completely black/transparent in the RGB (alpha is still correct). I assume this is not how it was intended.

GPU Simulation for next release ?
Posted by: CHaas - 07-15-2007, 02:26 PM - Forum: FumeFX [max] - Replies (3)

Is it possible to improve the (still good) simulation time with GPU Rendering in the next fume release ? I found this link for a free SDK from Nvidia, maybe it is possible to calculate the simulation on the GPU ? Link : http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cuda.html

Getting rid of hemispherical smoke heads?
Posted by: emil_vfx - 07-13-2007, 09:01 AM - Forum: FumeFX [max] - Replies (3)

Hello evreyone!

I simulate some smoke being blown out of a tube, using the Simple Src. Unfortunatelly I alwas have these typical hemispherical mushroom-alike heads in front of the smoke stuff itself and I cannot get rid of it despite all the tweaking. How can I remove that?

Thank you!

dreamscape sky reflect in Glass where no free view is to the
Posted by: tscheggo - 07-12-2007, 03:38 PM - Forum: DreamScape - Replies (2)

Hello,
we have following problem. we have build an attriumscene, which is totaly closed to all sites. the camera is on pedestrianheight. if we render this scene with vray 1.50 RC4 Max8, the sky is visibly in the reflection of the glass. But there is no view througt the walls, so that this reflection is wrong. I know, that vray had a problem with skydome and vraysky, so that the dome blocks something. Vray fixed that problem. Maybe, the dreamscapesky is a similar object for the vray engine and makes the same mistake. Have somebody the same problem? And the right solution? Thanks a lot.
