Freeze Smoke/Nebula Sim

I'm trying to model a nebula and using fumefx to do it. Is there a way to "freeze" smoke? I can't seem to find a tutorial or information on how I can achieve this...especially if I want the smoke to just "sit there" but also be movable in case another object in the sim disturbs it.
Thoughts?

FumeFX 4 - maxscript accessibility questions

I've got a couple of questions in regards to FumeFX 4 and MaxScript:
1. I encountered a bug (?) where GetVel returns 0 unless Velocity is enabled in the viewport. This is quite bizarre and looks like a bug to me as I would expect any simulation data to be accessible at all times. Enabling viewport gizmos somehow doesn't feel like something one should have to do to get access to that data. Is that a known bug or a feature?
2. Is there a function which would inject maxscript code into simulation script (the one which user can set in General tab)? I can't find anything like that and I need to make an automated scene creator which also defines maxscripts for created fumefx grids.
3. Is there any way to access velocity, smoke or any other simulated data from outside the FumeFX "use maxscript" in the General tab? I want to build a tool, utility window which artists can just open and you retrieve velocity/smoke data of a selected FumeFX grid. It seems that GetVelLocal is only available if I put MaxScript into "use maxscript". So currently I have a maxscript which does that but artists have to copy the code from a file, paste it into "use maxscript" code slot, scrub through the timeline (UI is being open on PostLoad event) and only then they can click a button which retrieves velocity values. This is very silly to work with.

Manual installation of Afterburn

Hi,
it's been a while since I visited the members area, we're still running Max 2016
I wanted to get updated builds for Max 2019 of AfterBurn and Dreamscape.
I'm pretty sure there used to be downloads of all the plugin files in zip folder, it made installing in our network so much easier.
Now all I can see are just EXE installers, are the manual archives still available?

AfterFLICS Issues

I have noticed some issues with AfterFLICS recently. On my license server there is an issue where AfterFLICS is constantly using an entire Core and when I open AfterFLICS Tools 4.1.2 I often see the info in the attached screen shot. When this is happening, no licenses are available to any machine.
I am trying to figure out the cause of this. I noticed that the service status said it's Using port 5022 but in the messages section it says its listening on port 5023. Is that relevant?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm just wondering if you can give us an update on the Maya port for Fumefx 5.0. I know it's tricky to estimate, but we are going into an R&D fase over the summer, and it would be wonderful if that could involve FumeFX 5.
Best Regards, Asger

has the fume preview gotten worse?
I've previewed different scenarios (explosions, smoke, etc) and all look super bad..
even the quality (res of the container) doesn't matter..
at least from what I can see..
I'm running the latest drivers on my gpu and working in fume 4.1.1..
thx

Fumefx 4.1.1 crash when multiple effectors are used

Hey guys, I have a problem where FumeFX 4.1.1 working on Max 2018.4 on Windows 10 crashes every single time if I have three effectors assigned to my FumeFX grid and I am trying to simulate. Sometimes Fume will simulate a couple of frames, sometimes it will crash immediately when I press simulate button. It works fine with one or two effectors but it crashes with three. Is that a known issue and if yes is there any workaround/planned fix?
I attached my scene which is causing the crash to happen.
