  FumeFX & Post Processing stutter
Posted by: jlelievre - 09-28-2013, 12:08 AM - Forum: FumeFX & NodeWorks [max] - Replies (5)

I have run into an issue with a scene where I am trying to retime a smoke simulation and the resulting cache causes the animation to 'stutter'. I have searched and asked around and it seems to be hit or miss when it comes to solving this issue. The scene isn't anything special, just some rolling smoke with a constant timescale. Simulations steps are set to 1.0. I have tried retiming with values of 0.35, 0.4, and 0.5, and even starting the scene from scratch with no luck. I was wondering if there are any tricks that may help solving this issue.

Thank you

  Maya 2014 compatibility

I have problems with fume not rendering with mental ray on Maya 2014 Extension (2014.5)
Simulation works fine but mental ray just renders black.
Maya 2013 on the same machine works.

Windows 7 64
Intel Dual Xeon E5-2640, 64 GB, Quadro 4000

  How to register simulation licenses?
Posted by: malu05 - 09-10-2013, 08:13 AM - Forum: FumeFX & NodeWorks [max] - Replies (2)

Installing the SL version of fumefx does not give you a interface for entering your serial/authorizing.

How do you authorize your simulation licenses?

  Particle Source bug
Posted by: radobe - 09-09-2013, 12:50 PM - Forum: FumeFX [maya] - Replies (1)

Particles are only accepted as source if they are connected to an emitter. If you generate your particles through an emit expression and therefore dont need an emitter you still need to connect an emitter to your particles, otherwise they are not recognized by the FumeFX Particle source.

  Scale
Posted by: radobe - 09-09-2013, 11:30 AM - Forum: FumeFX [maya] - Replies (6)

I have a question regarding the scale settings in fumeFX maya.

The help documents say that "Since FumeFX is based on real-world computational fluid dynamics, something to consider is the scale of your scene. Just like other simulation engines, you will get unpredictable results if your scenes are microscopic or gigantic in scale. - ... - so be sure to watch the scale of your scenes. "

I wonder which unit does FumeFX calculate in, is it cm? Is the default container 100*100*100 cm large?

Is there a possibility to change the systemscale in maya like in the 3ds Max version with assigning different values to $.systemscale ?

Please let me know what you think of my dragon Fred. I'd like to make the fire more realistic and was wondering if I need to make my particles smaller and add more? Any help would be great thanks guys! Smile Scott
