CFL condition limited to 10? - Jordan - 01-11-2011 Why is the CFL condition limited to 10? I understand this is the amount of voxels the velocities need to travel before Fume does another Simulation step. Why is it limited? Re: CFL condition limited to 10? - sitnisati - 01-12-2011 Hello, More than 10 voxels in a step could be unaccurate. I can increase this limit to 20 tops. For previews, you can limit number of simulation substeps to 1 for faster sims. Kresimir Re: CFL condition limited to 10? - FabianB - 01-13-2011 Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it possible to "cheat" this limit by just keyframing the value and modify it in the curve editor to a higher value? At least it works for vorticity. cheers, Fabian Re: CFL condition limited to 10? - sitnisati - 01-14-2011 Fabian, you are correct. Values are limited in the UI and plugin does not perform any clamping internally (abuse it on your own risk ).Kresimir Re: CFL condition limited to 10? - FabianB - 01-14-2011 sitnisati Wrote:Fabian, you are correct. Nice! I was always wondering about this one! Actually it works very well, at least for vorticity! Just a thought on the new update, it would be great if you would allow a higher max value for the vorticity. Something like 3 would be great, this would help a lot for scenes with a low timescale. Although setting the value in the curve editor works, it's sometimes a pain to click through all of the parameters to see what your actual value is, instead of just looking at the ui.Fabian Re: CFL condition limited to 10? - sitnisati - 01-18-2011 Well, in some cases parameters can create simulation that are out of control so parameters are limited. Otherwise we would be getting many emails from angry customers ![]() I think we can add some hidden MXS callback that will allow you to abuse it ![]() Kresimir Re: CFL condition limited to 10? - Jordan - 01-19-2011 perhaps an expert mode checkbox that takes these limits off and exposes the systemScale property
Re: CFL condition limited to 10? - FabianB - 01-19-2011 Jordan Wrote:perhaps an expert mode checkbox that takes these limits off and exposes the systemScale property Yeah, that would be great! Perhaps with a little skull icon next to it.

Re: CFL condition limited to 10? - jrand - 01-20-2011 haha, you Aussies are always so kind (I do mean that with sincerity BTW)I like the skull and cross bones button idea! This of course would have to be a secret button, that is only accessed through a large combination of right-click, alt, ctrl, shft combos
Re: CFL condition limited to 10? - sitnisati - 01-25-2011 John, now I am worried. I am willing to add a general MXS parameter that will be named allyourbasearebelongtous that will unlock everything in FumeFX. Wait and see

Re: CFL condition limited to 10? - FabianB - 01-25-2011 I love secret super parameters! Haha that should be awesome! :M
