2 drastically different results: same file, 2 machines - lxdengar - 05-12-2011 I’ve got a weird one. The same file gets completely different results on two identical machines. This is a fire sim at frame 25. The correct behavior can be seen in image 1 (machine1.jpg). The fire is expanding. The bad behavior is in image 2 (machine2.jpg). The fire is not expanding. *Both machines are identical (Xeon 5450s CPU @ 3.0) *File is unmodified, just opened on both machines, and run. Halp. Can anyone think of ANY setting that would cause this? Has anyone run into this before? This is fume 2.1b. Re: 2 drastically different results: same file, 2 machines - rconover - 05-16-2011 No I haven't. Do you have the exact same version of fumefx on both machine's? Anyway as long as you sim the effect on the machine thats correct than they should render both the same... Re: 2 drastically different results: same file, 2 machines - sitnisati - 05-16-2011 Hello, I can just confirm what rconover suggested - make sure you have the same FumeFX build on all machines. Not sure what else would cause such a big difference, but you can post your scene here so we can compare our results. Kresimir Re: 2 drastically different results: same file, 2 machines - FabianB - 05-17-2011 I ran into the same issue last week, but on the same machine. I had to merge an already prepared fume setup into a scene and I was getting the same thing! Even though everything was exactly the same in both scenes, it seemed like the expansion and temperature was much higher than in the original setup. cheers, Fabian Re: 2 drastically different results: same file, 2 machines - jrand - 05-20-2011 wow that is weird! That is something I would expect to see from a version mismatch. Same version scenes should always render the same. Re: 2 drastically different results: same file, 2 machines - sitnisati - 05-25-2011 What if you use 2.1c ? Also, do you maybe use variable density solver ? Thanks Kresimir |
