theres NO tool.... seriously NO OTHER TOOL at this present moment ON THE MARKET, that will provide extreme realistic fire and smoke effects like fumefx does.
phoenix is nothing but a volumetric effect, it never simulates realisticly. just like afterburn. those tools give u nice results, and if handled professionally bring u certain effects that are absolutely perfect, if the fluid movement of gasuoes effects like fire and smoke are not that necessary. like superhuge pyroclustic clouds from a vulcano, or fine mist. its just too much fake to artisticly bring the quality to persist a comparison with real footage.
but if it comes to see fire in a closeup, or even much bigger effects, where the fluid nature is clearly needed, cfd is the only way today to meet the needs of realisticly looking visual effects.
