hi, quick update.
we recently bought some i7 machine's and the problem seems to occur on our old q6600 machines only (these used to make up the majority of our renderfarm)
the new i7 machines handle the problem without a hich but the old Q6600 processors seem to choke sometimes still.
also yeah a larger degradation seemed to help a bit.
