Arnold Multiple Scattering Illumination
#4
Hi,
to be able to render FumeFX GI, following Arnold settings must be set:
- Arnold Renderer Settings > Arnold Renderer tab > Sampling > Camera (AA) must be at least 1
- Arnold Renderer Settings > Arnold Renderer tab > Sampling > Diffuse must be at least 1
- Arnold Renderer Settings > Arnold Renderer tab > Sampling > Volume Indirect must be at least 1
- Arnold Renderer Settings > Arnold Renderer tab > Ray Depth > Total must be at least 1
- Arnold Renderer Settings > Arnold Renderer tab > Ray Depth > Diffuse must be at least 1
- Arnold Renderer Settings > Arnold Renderer tab > Ray Depth > Volume must be at least 1
Then, you can control GI strength with following FumeFX params:
- FumeFX Attributes > Rendering Settings > Fire > GI multiplier (put at least value of 10.0 at first to see if it works, and adjust it later)
- FumeFX Attributes > Rendering Settings > Smoke > GI multiplier (put at least value of 1.0 at first, and adjust it later)

Older versions of Arnold didn't have the Volume Ray Depth option, but volume GI did work.

Just checked FumeFX black-body fire GI on FumeFX smoke in Arnold, and it works so there shouldn't be a problem.

If you experience any further problems, please post FumeFX, Arnold, and Maya versions.

Regards,
Josip Sumecki
