playback start frame ignored by vray
#1
Heyho,

I got a sim which is cached from 0-1000.

All our shots start at frame 1001.
So naturally I set the playback from 0 to 1500 and the start frame to 1001.
In the viewport the sim shows up in the frames corresponding to the offset/playback start frame.

Vray stays black!

Is it possible to just renumber the cached sim .fxd files? Or will the .fdc not allow this?
Lets try.

Well ... renumbering works!

But this is still a big pain.
I want to reuse my sim in several shots with offsets.
This way I'll end up with a lot of the same cache files with just other numbers in the sequence. aarrgghh.

Please help me. :S

cheers

Hello,

Can you please try the latest FumeFX for Maya build 3.5.4 - this should have been solved with it.

Please let me know.

Hello,

I am on 3.5.4

the start frame thing is working in the viewport, it seems just that vray is ignoring it completely.

Hello,

Can you maybe tell if you have updated the VRay shader along with it?
If not, please do so.

Inside the Vray folder\shaders there is a FumeFX.txt file.
When you open the file, it should contain this line:
"pb_offset" number "playback_start_offset" number INPUT

Thank you.

Heyho,

I just reinstalled the vray shader.
I got the line :

"pb_offset" number "playback_start_offset" number INPUT

Also it was there before reinstalling.

I cache a simple source up to frame 48. Afterwards I set the start frame to 20 and render frame 48. The rendered image stays the same like I would not have changed the start frame (or kept it at 0). Also the render gets cut (in its height) to the adaptive grid size of the cache at the corresponding start frame.

I just check this on another machine .. same thing there.

Thanks for your help.

I also have problem with the playback range..

I make a grid with simple source and sim 1-48. testrender with vray and it works fine...
If I set my maya time to 5001 - 5048 and in FFX playback sets Play from 1, Play to 48 and Start Frame 5001. I can see the sim in the viewport but it renders black...

FFX 3.5.4 and latest Vray shaders...

Hello,

Everything works fine here.
Can you please send me an email (Kresimir@afterworks.com) with OS details, Maya version and I will send you a build straight from my computer so we can compare those ?

Hello,

i am having a very similar problem.

Sim range is 1001-1170

Playback works, render in Vray doesnt. It works when i set the "After End Frame" Playback to cycle, but of course with a wrong frame.

I have the latest Fume and Vray Shader installed and running vray build 2.45.01 on Maya 2015.

Cheers
