RenderWorps does not work correctly by FumeFX 4.0.2
Pattern 1
-Simple setup (FumeFX grid +Smple source)
-FumeFX view port preview is enabled.
-FFD is added to a fumes list.
-Freeze
Pattern 2
-Simple setup (FumeFX grid +Smple source)
-FumeFX view port preview is disabled.
-FFD is added to a fumes list.
-Hit Render (Default Scanline)
-Crash
It confirmed in Win7 + FumeFX 4.0.2 + 3dsMax 2016sp1 and 3dsMax 2015sp3

Hey
I think i might be doing something wrong, or should optimize my system in some way... Loading and saving caches take longer than sim and actual render times.
I'm getting about 4% cpu usage for a few minutes when rendering, and then it renders fine. I've tried with both arnold and vray. The same thing in reverse when simulating large grids. Pretty fast sim time, but then it hangs for minutes saving.
I'm using field3d with gzip.
Any ideas what i can do to speed it up?
Sincerely
Peter

Hi, I've managed to build a scene that refuses to sim on BB.
First can you confirm this?
Just open, send to BB and wait for it to start.
Max starts and then closes with "an unexpected error occured"
Don't know what's so special about this scene - it has a pretty standard setup for my scenes lately.
I immediately created a brand new scene with FFX and sent it to BB - it simmed fine, so it's not our BB setup - it's just this particular scene :/

Ok, so I got the FumeFX plugin running nicely in floating license mode.
Now for the next part,
how do I setup the license for floating sim ?
I read something about installing FumeFX in SL mode on the simslaves,
but how do I authorize them ? it's not as if I can open max on them and
do something there ....
is there some sort of step by step ?

Hi,
I've recently updated to Max 2016 (well I say updated, had to buy a new seat - but that's a different can of worms)
Anyway, I noticed that the ability to view volumetrics in the viewport similar to the FFX GPU preview was implemented by PhoenixFD.
Is there any way of doing similar in FumeFX? The new features list talks about shadows in the viewport - which has been available in the GPU preview before - just wondering if I'm missing something obvious.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi all,
FumeFX is causing 3dsmax to fail launching/rendering when we are running Backburner as a service when users log off as described in this Autodesk article:
http://help.autodesk.com/view/3DSMAX/201...1FAF246649
The problem stems from running the Backburner serversvc.exe service when no user is logged in to the local machine, the machine will show up in the Backburner monitor, but 3ds Max 2016 fails to launch. We also tested with 3dsmax 2014, and it fails in an identical way. If we log in and start the Backburner service manually, network rendering works fine. The BB server service has been granted admin level log-on credentials, but this doesn't solve the issue.
Through thorough investigation, we have learnt that render slaves which have FumeFX 3.5R 2016 installed fail to render jobs with the following error:
Error: The pipe has ended : 109 3ds Max Adapter error: 3dsmax.exe process no response
We get this error testing a simple max scene containing only a cube primitive with camera using scan-line renderer. (i.e. it doesn't even have FumeFX objects).
Has anyone encountered this problem, and if so is there a known solution to this.
We think that perhaps that some element of the FumeFX licensing/initialisation is causing 3dsmax to stall on loading, and hence the render times out. (FYI: The machines in question are licensed and running a combination of workstation and SL FumeFX license, and we can use FumeFX without issues
Note: we are also using AfterBurn4.1 R2015 (but installed in 3dsmax 2016, as the link to 2016 version actually references the 2015 version).
Cheers,
Adam.
