GPU preview is unusable for me. I attached a screenshot of it.
No problem with CPU preview though.
I have it set up to use my GTX 970.
My screens are plugged into a 660.

FumeFX Crash on Sim

When I adjust the detail parameter of turbulence noise and click sim I get a hard crash to desktop. If I keep it at one it will let me sim for a few frames before it crashes. I'm using the latest fumefx for 3dsmax 2016.
I have a simple particle source as my emitter. Is it possible The density is getting so high it crashes the sim?
Here's a copy of my scene:

Increasing the turbulence noise detail to 5 is guaranteed to crash for me, although it crashes randomly if left at 1.

I'm making missile smoke. I have to modify smoke trail because it stay always in front of a camera.
I am troubled with FumeFX and TP whether I cannot realize my idea.
I satisfy a position and speed of TP, but not good direction. So I modified it as alignment of shape then prepared as Data channel of TP.
I want to replace it to velocity(direction) of Particle Src of FumeFX. Is it possible?
I researched maxscript control from FFX. But I didn't find a good way.
I would appreciate it very much if you could advise me anything. Thanks.

Hi!
I wanted to get my hands in the MaxScript-functionality to influence the simulation itself. But both the checkbox and the "Edit"-button in the general tab are greyed out. I'm working with version 4.0.4 on Max 2015. Did I miss some other button that enables MaxScripting?
Thanks

An error has occured while loading output file

I have a network sim running and made the mistake of turning on the display of the Fume voxels before the sim finished. Now there is an infinite messagebox saying "An error has occured while loading output file". If you hit OK, it just pops back up infinitely. I had to kill Max.
Is there a way to limit this message so Max doesn't need to be killed in task manager?

Hello
What is the time for a Simulation Node for release the licence after the end of a simulation over Network & floating licence server.
Here's my application test :
I've got a floating server working fine ( 2 working licence + 4 simulation)
I submit a simulation job over network (thinkbox deadline).
I install FumFX, in SL mode, on a first render node => works fine => I stop simulating on this manchine. (SL licence should be released at this moment)
I instal fumeFX, in SL mode, on few more render nodes => begins to fail simulating.
And now AfterFLICS tool on my server is marked as "All licences are in use" while i don't have anymore simulation running.
How can i reset the use of a licence by a SLnode ? Does the SLnode gives correctly the information that he stopped the simulation ?
What is the duration of a 'session' after a SLnode pick a licence ?
Thanks !

retimer crash in 4.0

We can't retime in version 4.0 a sim created in version 4.0. It still loads/retimes successfully using version 3.5.4. Are there any known bugs resolved in a 4.x update?
Info: When clicking the sim start button it throws a message about a building voxels for a 3d object in the sim, then crashes. In version 3.5.4, only states info about retiming frames as expected.

Illumination Map Not Saving/Calculation Phase Hidden

I'm having two issues currently. The first is that my illumination maps don't seem to be saving to a file. When I check the cache folder the .fim file is not there and each render re-calculates the map.
But that brings me to the second issue. I can't be totally sure that it is re-calculating the maps because the calculating progress windows do no appear 90% of the time.
Any assistance with these issues is appreciated. I searched the forums earlier but couldn't find an answer.
EDIT: After checking my fim directory I discovered it was set to a different directory than my cache and wt_cache. I'm still having an issue with the calculation phase not showing and I find I need to manually rename my fim file in order for it to match the cached sim (I'm referencing a single cache over multiple frames using the out of range controls). If I don't rename my fim to the cache frame referenced, the illumination map recalculates for each scene frame, creating redundant data.
I do randomly get the "Loading Illumination Map" progress window and it seems to linger way longer than expected. The process is not much faster than re-calculating the illumination map for each frame. I would assume it should already have the map loaded in memory from the last frame anyway.
